Fitness, we’ve all heard about it, but what exactly does it mean? To be honest, everybody is unique and eventually will have to have a program tailor-made and designed according to their specifications.

My mate Muk Venkataramen, is a fitness trainer, and a very good one. His website is reached at the following:

http://www.elitefitnesshk.com/

What is his philosophy? Well, he works hard and gets the results. I’ve known Muk since growing up and his passion has always been about fitness; hard work goes a long way.

“Train hard and train smart. Sweat is a good thing. Fatigue is merely a feeling that will go away once you have completed your task. We are all about results driven training. We don’t do anything that doesn’t work. We don’t care for the gimmicks and fads out there being sold to people everyday. Its all about working hard, sweating, sacrificing and striving to be better than everyone else. This is what we do. .“

We’ve all heard about flax, but what about hemp seeds?

They are considered a superfood as they are a superior source of protein, containing many minerals and vitamins as well as omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. Hemp seeds have just the right ratio of these fats as 3:1 and have seven times more omegas then fish. Now if that’s not reason enough to consume them read more.

Hemp seeds contain nutrients like iron, magnesium and vitamin E. So they are considered good for the joints (not marijuana types!!!)

Hemp seeds also have essential amino acids in them. They are a complete protein and are so easy to digest. A great way to consume them is blended, as the seeds are sometimes too small and can pass through the digestive system. However, you can still sprinkle them over soups, salads and so forth.

In Hong Kong, you can get these from many sources, contact Anita Cheung from i-Detox, and she’ll sort you out. Usually you should refrigerate them from going rancid.

For recipes or amazing facts, contact Lakshmi at Love True Food.

Don’t delay, try them today!!!

Finally finally finally, the scientists agree with me. Eating fat is GOOD!!! Finally, I’ve been saying this for years, so has my dad, and were we obese??? NO NO NO!

Scientists now believe that eating some fats are good. Palm oil, coconut oils etc. are healthy. GHEE IS GOOD, yes you Indians that think you know everything about GHEE, YOU DO’T. IT IS HEALTHY!!!

In fact it pisses me off when people drink diet coke and low fat products. THIS IS THE WORST THING YOU CAN BLOODY WELL DO!!! IT MAKES YOU FATTER!!! Trust me.

It’s the EXCESS SUGAR that makes you fat!!! II repeat, it’s not fat it is sugar. It has always been that!!!

So people eat this excess sugar and then get type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. It isn’t that fats its the carbs and sugar. GET IT???

STUPID PEOPLE FOLLOW PEOPLE LIKE SHEEP. STOP DOING THAT!!! You think just because it say low fat that it is good for you??? GET REAL!!!!

Certain fats are essential to our existence, it is proven. So why the hell are you just shoveling shot into your mouths. Lucky for you, there is Love True Food. We teach you healthy foods that promote your health and emphasize the truth. Look no further than here!

FACT: When we eat too many refined carbs, like white bread, pasta etc, it is another form of sugar. So our body’s hormones beleive that we should hold on to fat we already have. And eating these types of foods doesn’t really make us full. So emphasizing complex carbs and whole grains is the best way to ensure that we are halthy and happy. What are whole grains? If you don;t know, than you should definitely pay me a visit. Whole grains are grains that haven’t been processed such as brown rice, quinoa, teff, the list goes on.

Stop eating shit and start eating good, honest, and true food.

peace…

Scallops are sweet, flavorsome and delicious. According to Ayurvedic principles, scallops have a high amount of zinc thus they are good for increasing libido in both men and women. Unlike the oyster, scallops are sweeter in flavor and can be a very sensual ingredient to work with.

When I embarked on my journey of cooking these fabulous sea creatures, I soon figured out that overcooking could lead to rubbery disaster. Instead I sear them in very hot butter until golden, then flip em’ over and cook through, I always prefer to undercook then overcook them!!!

For valentine’s day, learn how to prepare these precious gems of the sea with Love True Food cooking classes, this February 3rd. Book now, as spaces are limited.

Abalone, an amazing sea snail can be categorized as a Mollusk, they fall into the category of clams, scallo[s, sea slugs, octopus and squid, to be precise.

Personally, the beauty in the abalone is the way it looks and feels, many people associate the abalone with female genitalia, and this is what makes this a delectable delicacy. Actually, the most prized part are the shells as they have an inner layer and beautiful surrounding attachment.

Abalone has been on this earth way before mankind, and since the beginning of our time, humans have considered this a profound creature of the natural world.

The abalone eats marine algae from the sea, and whether you eat wild abalone or farmed, make sure that you understand that the different types of abalone look and feel different because they eat different types of algae. Amongst the main types of abalone, there exist red abalone, green, black, flat, pink, pinto and the list goes on. All these types are characterized by differing colors, textures and structures.

Abalone is considered to be an aphrodisiac, no wonder this chef loves em’. It has been classified by the Chinese to be within the category of shark’s fin, sea cucumber, ginseng and bird’s nest, as a very ‘in demand’ ingredient. I certainly do not promote the eating of shark’s fin, as these creatures are endangered!!! As inhabitants of this world, we should be more cautious and aware of what we are consuming and show respect and reverence for everything bestowed upon us.

Now, back to abalone, it has many health benefits as it is rich in selenium, magnesium, Vitamin B12 and E. Once this mollusk is cooked, it richness of omega-3 fatty acids is brought out. So if you suffer from acne or any form of skin disorder, eating an abalone could certainly help with that.

Braising abalone is a great way to enjoy it, just simply with soya sauce and a little bit of stock. A great accompaniment with abalone are mustard trees or baby bok choy. Now with Valentine’s day coming up, what more could you ask for.
